How to output Google Maps to KML and other URL manipulations -- Useful for backing up a google map before editing it.
- Right-click on "View in Google Earth" and copy the shortcut. Paste the URL into a browser and change the "output=nl" to "output=kml", and hit enter. Save file. You will see it's much bigger now.
- Copy the "Link" URL and edit it the same way.

- Then just follow the instructions. It downloads in PDF format, but requires a special plugin for Adobe, available here
