Jack's Take
It comes with everything you need, light, battery, charger, helmet mount, handlebar mount, battery "mount" for bike, and 2 different lengths of cable for connecting light to battery. I've never seen actual LUMEN ratings published anywere, but it is bright. If you are approached from the rear by someone wearing one of these, it feels like a car just pulled up behind you. It is a slightly bluer light than the DiNotte system(which I think is brighter), but the DiNotte lasts around 3-4 hrs on high on a single battery.
Pros:
- bright
- one battery gets you through the night
- intimidating
- comes with everything you need (no extra "kits" to purchase to attach it to your helmet or handlebars)
Cons:
- probably heavier than it needs to be for shorter rides, as you are stuck with the one big battery
- occasional flash of red light while on HID mode
Summary:
Overall, I'd say this light system is excellent for 24 hour races where you need to be moving all night long. You'll have no worries about riding fast with this light. You can go 30+ miles per hour without feeling like you are overrunning your lights. I've ridden with cheaper lights, and it forces you to ride slower, as you can't see obstacles soon enough at higher speeds.
Note: Moab appears to have discontinued this light, but does not have a 12 hr system to replace it on their site. The SlickRock 900 appears to be their answer ("Next Generation HID"), but it has much shorter burn times (2.25hrs). It's reported to put out 900 lumens
